Does she look pregnet--Worried!

Teresa usually aborts her babys for no reason and she has been keeping her tail off to the side latley (showing that she wants to get pregnet) and im worried that she adoted her baby. Here are two pictures that i took today, I'm going to go and measure her when i go and do chores to see if she aborted---but does it look like she is still pregent? sorry for the bad quality of the photos!

Have you had her checked to see why she aborts? I wouldn't keep breeding a horse that always aborts, especially without knowing why it happens. It might be something that is easily treated.
How many times has she done it?

We haven't breed her since we owned her but with her other owners about 3 or 4 times and she carries about 1 or 2 times...but other than that we don't know why she aborts but people that owned her said that she just doesn't like to carry.

I would get the vet out to check and see if she is pregnant and if not, to do some tests to try and determine why she aborts. Sometimes it is a simple imbalance that can be fixed with some supplements.

Horses (as with other animals, humans included) do not just 'abort for no reason'. If she was my mare and I though that she might be in foal and couldn't find something that was positive (feeling the foal kick) I would get her Vet checked.

I agree with calling a vet, at the farm i worked at a tb mare always wouldnt take, and the vet said it was becouse of an imbalance, then she took, but then she aborted!! It turned out we caused a different imbalance by trying to correct another! We figred everything out and now she is carrying to term I hope all goes well with your mare!

How far along would she be? Cause to me she looks like a nicely trim, fit mare... unlike mine... (mine are all fat)

I would see why she aborts and definately don't breed her if she does because it will just be a waste of money on your part.

My neighbor's bought a Appy mare from a breeder. They were told when they bought her that she wasn't wanted anymore because the last time she foaled she tore her cervix, so the breeder sold her.

Then a few years later they decided they wanted a foal from her. I don't know if they forgot about why they were able to buy her in the first place or what (that's something I'd never forget) but they bred her. She carried the foal full term, but the foal was born small and sick and they had to put it down.

The vet said it was from Placenta Seperation (the placenta seperated from the wall while the foal was developing - that's what feeds the foal, so it wasn't able to get enough nourishment) that's also why twins don't survive normally. There's not enough room for the placenta to feed both babies.

(I don't know if it was related to the earlier problem, but I think they would have been so much better off leaving that mare alone and breeding one of their others)
