Cool Doc O Mos

Has anyone ever trained, ridden or handled a Doc O mos horse before? Did you like his/her temperment did they take to training well? Do you know what his stud fee was when he was alive? I have had a 6 year old Doc O Mos daughter for a little over a year now and she's one of the best horses I've ever owned , with a fantastic temperment and gives me a 110% everytime I ride her, and I wondered if they were all generally this way. Thank you ahead of time!

Thumbs up Doc O Mos offspring

I have trained a couple of Doc O Mos horses.I currently have a mare by him, that is being leased out. They are very willing and do seem to try very hard to do whatever you ask of them. These bloodlines can do many things and are known to excell in all around classes. They can halter,go from western to english, chase a can and my mare loves to jump just about anything! She is a big mare (15.1 1/2 hh and 1250 lbs)and not what you would expect to see wanting to take a jump.More halter conformation, but no Impressive breeding;but does have the old T.B. lines through her dam.I started her straight off the pasture she was raised on(at Double K ranch). No issues,no problems. Both mares were super sweet and easy to start. They are so responsive that I think they do best with a calm and sensitive trainer and can get a little "hot" if they are not sure what you are asking and have a lot of "go".Many Doc O Mos horses have shown in Novice and Select with fantastic results. They have a very high number of performers to foals produced.Half of my mares siblings (6 of 12)were shown and have done very well, with several having wins on a National level (in Tom Powers,Congress,Lone Star,etc...)One sibling is a certified therapy horse. At least one died in training, prior to showing and although my mare has never been shown, she has just as much potential. They do give everything,if trained in a calm way.Best wishes with your mare,I just adore my Doc O Mos mare. She is the best mare I have ever had and I have had horses for over 35 years!
