Do you wear a helmet when riding?

Me being a new rider always wear a helmet as does my daughter. When we go out on the trail with my instructors they don't wear them. I feel kind of geeky...lol. But safety first.

I always wear a helmet when riding and so does my daughter or she doesn't ride. It is as simple as that. One thing that helps though is my daughter shows hunter and they have to wear helmets so it is normal for her to wear hers. With me well I just want to keep what brain I have intact because I am not a real experience rider either. LOL

Never feel geeky for wearing one!!!!!!

Do I? At horse shows in a hunter pleasure class....yes. Besides that? Normally not. The odd time, but not often.

I agree with Psy, i usually never wear one, im 17, but they are not at all geeky. In shows its a rule, but when i trail ride i dont, i prolly should though, its MUCH safer.

I love how people say "I should wear one, they're so much safer" and then they don't. It's like, if you KNOW it's safer and you KNOW the dangers of not wearing one...why not wear one?

I always wear a helmet. Always. I feel naked without it.

No, I don't, however I always give the option of a helmet to people when they ride at my house, and for kids it's a must. I wore one when I took lessons. My mom requested that I wear one when I ride Cabeza, and though I wouldn't have to, I'm happy to comply, so in the future that will be the only time I do.

Absolutely do not feel silly wearing one when others don't When I first started riding I ALWAYS wore one, I just felt better. My kids don't go out on trails yet but when they do they WILL be wearing helmets or they won't go.

My trainer has never worn a helmet but was very supportive that I did and no one made fun I don't wear one now unless I am on a strange horse or something, not because mine is perfect, it's just my choice. My kids rarely wear them in the arena playing but are not allowed out in the yard without it.

If you feel better wearing it then by all means DO! I wear the hooded stirrups, it makes me nervous to use stirrups that my foot could slip thru and I think everyone should use them! However it comes down to choice.
