Do you smack your horse?

A recent thread got me going.
When you are, say, leading a horse and the horse nips at you, do you smack them? Or if they are acting dangerously?

PLEASE DONT TURN THIS INTO A HEATED ARGUMENT!!!!!

poll coming...

yup. It's nothing different than a horse in the field nipping another who has violated their space.

I sure will...if they're disrespecting me when they know better and haven't responded to a verbal warning, they'll get a smack or a flip of the leadrope, or just wave my hand at them....

Definatly! When it comes to safety issues, ie. biting or kicking or even pushing me around when leading, etc...the horse I am handling will get a smack. The behavior usually stops then.

That's how horses deal with eachother in their natural environment. That's what they understand, how they communicate to eachother to STOP doing what they are doing. I gaurantee a smack from me doesn't even compare to the kickings they give eachother.

I do smack but I have always wanted to bite! Ever see Snow Dogs where he bit the dogs ear! I always wonder if that would work!

Yes.

Horses "bite" eachother when a behavior is unnaceptable in the herd. I am the leader and I bite.
