Do You SING/TALK to your horse while riding?

Well. I have a nervous horsey boy sometimes, like on our second ever cross-Country/Eventing experience. So, to calm his nerves, I sang the Doors, "Break on through to the other side" the ENTIRE ride. I galloped by my friends, who heard my off key screeching, and they laughed their bums off. Worked for bandit though. And on a "scary" trail ride, I coompletely created my own song all about him. I must say he was quite flattered. Anyways, point was, it soothed me AND him.

anyone else sing to their horses in some sticky situations?

Well I don't exactly have the most angelic voice lol but I tend to talk to him and tell him he's a good boy. I hum and sing sometimes too hehe (but only when no one's arround ).

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one here. My friend Jes thought I was insane. I tend to jsut talk, even when i'm jumping. I'll go over with only one hand on the reins, talking. Like my da came up one day and I had a conversation while riding and Bandit was just lsitening the entire time. It was really cute.

I once rode a mare that would NOT go over a jump unless you were talking to her. No need to feel embarassed .

hahahahah your SO WEIRD!!!! lol
that would be a negative on the whole singing thing, but i do talk to tonto when i feel hes going to be stupid and spook at nothing. like when i rode him bareback the first time on the hunter pace, i could feel him tense up so i just started talking to him. or when im taking him in the back fields by himself, and he started to whinny-lol i talk to him but make fun of him at the same time.(you know what i mean add) other times hes just acting stupid and needs to realize he cant get away with that behavior....

you young lady, need to get a little bit more of a backbone too. and dont say you dont need one lol. weve been over it before. :0)
