Do you have an oval head?
Help Me. There are NO tack shops any where within hours of me that carry helmets other than Troxels.
I need/want a new helmet for dressage/low level jumping shows.
I prefer one with ventilation.
I have an oval shaped head. My troxel is round, and doesn't fit quite right. It is too tight on the front and back of my head, but there is space on the sides.
My only option is to take your advice and order online. What kind of helmet do you oval headed people wear?
I do, I do! I have an IRH that fits pretty well. I remember going to the tack shop to try it on. The woman there actually said somethign along the lines of "Your head is more oval shaped and this helmet isn't fitting your right. Let me find another one..." lol My Tipperary Sportage on the other hand is clearly made for more round-headed people.

Mmmmkay. Thanks for the advice. Argh, I hate buying things online and not being able to try them on.
I have a rather large oval head, so only the Charles Owen helmets fit me -- IRH don't come big enough

I'm exactly the same. I tried on the IRH but max size was 60 and it was still too small!

My IRH as well as my GPA fit my oval head well..
Well, depends how oval your head is! Different manufacturers fit differently, but their different styles also fit differently.
An inexpensive riding helmet brand with many different styles. In my expirience their vented helmets are slightly rounder than CO's, and I do not like the sizing at all! Their other helmets (CO knockoffs and velvet helmets) seem to be oval and fit my head (I'm in between an oval and round, lol!) I don't have one of these helmets but they seem nice if they fit your head.
VERY OVAL!! The CO GR8, AYR8, JR8, and most of their velveteen models are super oval. Currently probably the most popular helmet on the circuit, but they tend to run very long front to back which can cause slippage if they dont fit your head right. Charles Owen makes one model, called the Wellington classic which fits rounder heads. The GR8, AYR8, and JR8 seem to fit almost identically, with the AYR8 being slightly slightly rounder. These helmets are much more oval than anything you'll find from GPA.
Many different styles. Top of the line show helmet. There's the GPA Titium original which is so round you could put a basket ball in it :P Then there's the GPA Textium which is a nice in between round and oval shape. The GPA Professional Line is also a nice in between oval shape, with the Textium being more oval than the Titium. Then we have the GPA Speed Air which is slightly rounder than the Charles Owen But has padding to fit an actual head well, lol. GPA also makes an evolution, air s, air skin and training model helmets, BUt I've not tried any of those on.

Yes, oval head here. CO fits me like a glove and I ride in the AYR8 in black/black--it's vented. IRH hats are slightly less oval, although that varies by model with that manufacturer. The SSV and Elite are both vented and in discrete sizes.
Horseback Riding...the most fun you can have with your boots still on...
Ditto the AYR8. Oval and vented.
