... about what your upcoming foal will look like, and if it will be a filly or a colt and what name you will have for it???


Literally - from the moment the vet says "We have a pregnancy!" I start daydreaming about what is cooking in there and anytime I see or hear a neat name that would be just PERFECT for a buckskin & white colt, or a palomino & white filly, I write it down quick so I dont forget it, and by now (still 5 and 6 months away! ) I have my lists narrowed down to my top favorite names ...

No matter HOW many foals we have, the excitement never goes away and I never stop counting down the "sleeps" until the girls safely foal their latest arrivals ...

And not only my own mares! I know when the clients mares are due to foal and I chew my nails down waiting for word that they have safely foaled as well and am dying to see the pictures of their new arrivals!

Some of them are SO cute as well! Several are first time "Moms" and even now - months away from the new arrival, they are nervous wrecks - I cant even imagine what they will be like days or hours away from the pending foaling!

I hope that I am not the ONLY one that goes through this?!
'Fess up - how many of you already have names picked out for your 2006 foals and can totally imagine what he or she looks like?!

Hehe i dream about it all the time! LOL and i'v never owend a mare, or had a foal!! One day!!

We bred my mare in 2004....it was her first foal, and mine as well. That whole year, exactly from the time the vet said "pregnant", I would imagine what she was going to have. I swore she was going to have a palomino filly....instead, I got my palomino colt . I hadn't thought of names....it took about 2 weeks after he was born for me to actually pick a barn name for him (and stop calling him "colt").....and it took me months to come up with a registered name for him....I just HAD to see him before I chose anything.

So no....you're not alone.....us horse-people are dreamers by nature I think

I have dreams about my mares having a foal, but they arent even pregnant lol

I love to dream about imaginary pairings and what would be produced.I see a photo of a mare and I immediately start thinking of what she would have with various stallions.

In reality I am superstitious.When my mares are pregnant I am afraid to think what sex/ what colour etc. for fear of jinxing the whole thing.And I NEVER think of names before the foal is up and doing well.

omg yes... with Stelly Iv already decided that shes having a black filly with a star[lol] and Im naming it Dael[like Dale but spelled cooler]... hehe if something else comes out... well Ill improvise!
