Do You Braid Your Own Horse?

As the title says, do you braid your own horse as in for horse shows? I'm just curious as to what the general concensus is.

Yes, until I joined here I had never heard of anyone being paid to do the job for you.

Yep, always have

I also braid for other people when we go to hunter shows but not at Arab shows. On the arab circuit people either braid their own horses or their trainer or groom does it as part of the grooming "package".

Have NEVER paid to have a mane (or tail) braided - but have been paid to do some.

Yep, every time! I think half the fun of horse shows is getting the horse ready, braiding included. And the end result is worth the sore fingers you get... most of the time, anyway...

I do all my own banding. It takes me awhile and my fingers get really sore....but I refuse to pay to have it done.

I braid and band my QHs and my Paints for shows as well as for clients. When I showed 'A' Circuit I paid braiders.

So far, I have paid someone to braid or just had someone braid for me, as I'm not good at it. But that's only been a few times.

I have braided for myself before, but ugly ones with elastics.

I fight back tears from the big losses and save them for the even bigger wins. I can grit my teeth through the pain and still feel like I'm floating on a cloud. I'm a special breed. Say what you will but don't hate me for who I am.
