i have to braid my horse everytime.
i have a bit of an OCD issue and if someone else does it i would have to go back and fix it.
im the one at my barn known for breaking out the ruler and measuring my plaits...have to have exaclty 42 every time.
everyone comes to me to do their horse because i do it with persision.
actually i have to plait next week for my friend.
(:

I pay a professional braider to do it. I would be way too freaked out about not getting it perfect, and it would just be more stress.

When braiding was required I've done it myself, no one around here for hire to do it, or I might think about it! Mine don't turn out too badly, but it did take me forever, and I'm always short enough on sleep before a show anyhow.

If I showed a breed in which it was expected/allowed- I would pay someone else to do it for medium to big shows. There's a lot to be said for saving time AND getting a professional looking job done.

Same, I was really surpried but I'm pretty awful at it and it takes me a while so I can see the attraction but I don't think I'd every pay someone for it.

I braid mine myself all the time. I dont see the point when Im good enough at it. Also Im pretty much the only one in my HUS classes that has their horses mane braided/banded/plaited. Most of the people just leave it no matter how scruffy it looks =(

Yep, I'm a bit of a perfectionist and will always do it myself. And I can do a pretty bang up job if I don't say so myself.

I have never paid to have my horse done, though I have been paid myself to braid other's horses. I'll say one thing... it pays well

Back in the day when I did a lot of showing - if I had paid to have manes and tails done I wouldn't have had the money to show.

I've always done my own braids, even when I was just starting out showing as a kid. I've also been paid to braid other people's horses, but have never even considered hiring someone else to do my dirty work I'm very particular about it, and would much rather I did it than someone else did it and I had to fix anything.
