Yep thats exactly what we would have to do if this method doesn't work. Molly is her name. She is very unruly. She stamps her foot when the other horses are fighting and they stop. What does that tell you.
Yes, I do have to "over power her" cause she "over powered me" Its not revenge I need to the ferrier to be able to come here without reservation. And he may be interested also.
Please stop with the antagonism that I am seeing
I feel very passionate about this technique yet I hear so much negative but no one is coming out and saying, yea I tried that and this is what happened.

When you put a twitch on a horse, the horse cannot move right, have you ever tried to lead a horse with a twitch on, well if you have turned your horse's head around and held it there, your horse CANNOT move. You just zonked it out with endorphins like the twitch. Even if they wanted to move they can't, shifting your weight won't help, you have to either slap them or kick them hard to for the brain activity to snap them out of it again..

How many people have had a horse stand there and refuse to turn or give ?

How many people have got off because the horse wouldn't move ?

They can't, their zonked out..and when this happens they can stand there for a long time, once their legs are apart you are there for the long run..

When this happens you have to let their heads go wait a few moments for the horse's compossure to come back then give them a niggle..

Why on earth do yo want quick fixes.

And I'm speaking as someone who does remedial training of problem horses.

Second thoughts why don't you just shoot them and be done!
What are you suggesting horseagent? shoot Molly with what?

I was talking about anything faster than a trot or canter..

This works fine if they are moving around the box..

Gee Horseagent.....
what happened to the post about "poor horse ownership"?
Looking for it, would you care to elaborate on that? Or can't I find it?

do you have to have a bridle/bit in the horses mouth for this to be effective?

i am a big fan of the one rein stop. my mare was a firecracker out on trails, in the arena, at shows, just about everywhere. my instructor taught me the one rein stop - she called it "putting the horse in neutral" because you are turning off its motor. when i have her head turned around to my toe she ant buck anymore, or rear or what not, or bolt off. its like an "emergency brake" and i needed it for the first year i had Savannah because she had so much bad training she would become dangerous without the one rein stop.

she's a lot calmer now through lots of patient training and lots of baby steps.

i have stated doing stretches with her to warm her up for dressage. on the ground i noticed that when i turn her head to face her flank she seems to go into a really sleepy state. i use this stretch for her neck muscles, and i thought it was funny that she would get so relaxed when i stretched her this way.

is this a part of your method, or do you have to have the pressure from the bit to activate the pressure point?

You could try and do it in a head collar if you horse was small but normal size horse's neck muscles are just way to strong, I tried with a head collar before and they throw me around like a rag doll.

Also, tried doing it by pulling on the bit without turning the head and it worked the same but it's also hard keeping constant pressure on because they left their nose up and down wait for the endorphins to work..

The biggest horse I could find here was a 16 year old broodmare that weight 600-650kg , she went to sleep too and sat down , so I don't think there is a horse this doesn't work on, if they have a brain we can "Tap" into it..

Maybe the are a few ways that can encourage endorphin release, this is just one I thought people could use in need..
