Okay I HAVE to say something about THAT. Just because you are 50 and not 15 doesnt mean you have more horse knowledge. And the years you have spent riding mean little if they werent years of QUALITY riding and experience. This is what urks me...older people who put us down because of our age. I know A LOT and I am very knowledgable about horses so don't you dare give me this crock.

And I am perfectly capable of making serious evalutions on topics. I know proper training from improper and the difference between forcing and asking. I know when a method is smart, moral, and right and when its cruel.

Wow. I guess I can see in extremee cases where that would be helpful. I agree with paintedPNH, age does not matter. You either know your stuff, or you don't. I don't agree with using age as a insult. I do see the logic in your method, and will keep an eye open and see what it progreess to. I do not think I'll ever use it, but like a few others said if the need came its better than some alternatives....

Good luck with it and welcome to HGS. Hope to see you around more.

I'm not putting down your method at this point I'm trying to make a point of my own. I can see using it if vet work is neccessary on an unruly horse but as a training method I dont agree.

Just read through all this.... still on the fence...
Though I will say this, in a clinic I took two years ago, one of the things the clinician had us doing was if our got "upset" or what not, we'd stand by a shoulder and bring thier head around to it. I found that it did help in "calming" the horse down... give them a time out... now we did this in conjunction of other stuff we'd been shown. And by the end most horses were very relaxed and would actually with the light touch of our hand- bring thier heads to the ground.

I'm not sure I'd want to try the Full Tap...manly becuase for 1. id be afraid id get squished.... and for 2. like i said earlier im still on teh fence.

Cudos for coming back and explaining yourself.

ok, Im just gonna say MY opineion, and dont judge me cause Im 14.
I just gotr my horse in may. A 7 year old never broke over 16hh mare. I couldnt hardly touch her, let alone fix her halter, and waat I did was go at things naturally, I did a LOT of research on NATURAL horsemanship and I feel that it is one of the best ways to earn true trust and REALLY have a well trained horse!!

Mariah

and we really dont mean to chase you off!!

hmm, its sound good in theory, but I think I will stick to the good old fashioned way of breaking in a horse, by getting them to respond because they want to not because they're basically "drugged".
