how do I slow shilo down over jumps??

Whenever I try to jump shilo which is not very often because I ride western most of the time, She has amazing power and comfidence she never refuses or anything but she goes sooo fast. Some days she is like she is trying to run a round of steeplechase so I do half halts and take her away from the jumps to get her settled but thats just her she has a fast canter and then when I go back to the jumps she is the same old fast as ever shilo and jumps great and very rarely nocks a rail down and somedays I will work really hard to get her slower and more collected she nocks down just about every rail and doesnt do rearly as good as when shes flying around the coarse. Does anyone have any idea why she is like this and how could i get her to slow down a bit but keep the rails up? I dont ever think about entering any hunter classes with her like this so I just have to jump at home.
thanks meagan

actually, seesawing the mouth isnt good for the horse.

put ground poles infront of the jump. put like 3 or 4 at a trotting distance apart. trot up, go over the jump and then stop as soon as possible and stand there for awhile.

also set up a gymnastic. 2 or 3 jumps in a row. have the trot poles before the 1st fence, then have the other fences spread out so its land, stride, jump, land, stride, jump, and then halt

sponging is better. but by seesawing u are basically making the horse swing his head. so it goes left right left right and that blocks off the shoulder so they cant move freely and makes for a choppier stride. and ur horse can get a sore mouth.

if u sponge the reins(squeeze left then squeeze right and so on) u get about the same result. but its a lot nicer on the mouth. u can to sponging lightly or on a tighter rein. but seesawing makes the horses head move side to side. but seeing as its the horse world 2 things can mean the same thing

Try doing a small circle before the jump.

its ok. seesawing (in my area any way) is when u take the left rein pull back and then the right rein and pull back and u keep doing that. and then sponging is when u just squeeze the reins one at a time.

My trainer called "sponging" seesawing too! Actually until today I had never even heard the word sponging.
