Do I need a new farrier? (PICS)

Traveler has been barefoot since January and he's still a bit ouchy over gravel and small rocks. We're dealing with thrush for the 3rd time, and I'm just not liking his feet since we moved barns and started using their farrier 3 months ago. He was trimmed 10 days ago and is trimmed every 4 weeks.

Please let me know what you think:

Right front:

Right Rear:

Left Rear:

Angles:

As far as I can see, they don't look bad to me. BUT, I'm looking at a photo. Go with your gut feeling.

The hind feet aren't that bad - decent actually. A bit high heeled, but acceptable.

I don't find the fronts acceptable though. The heels are quite high, and you can see how the toe dishes - it's too long as well. I'd wager a guess that he often stands with his front feet pulled underneath himself somewhat.

Are they horrible? No. Just trimmed less than optimally, and I'm not surprised he's tender on gravel and such. The good news is that his hoof quality seems really good, and I bet with a good trim and a little time to get conditioned, he'll be fine on most surfaces.

Thanks JBandRio, I was hoping you'd see the thread. I'm definitely in the market for a new farrier.

Yeah, those front feet look weird. I would try another farrier. Good job for noticing that. Some people would have shrugged it off.

How high should the heel be normally? If I go out and look at my horses heels what should I be looking for?
