First question...is the Grulla and dun homozygous or heterozygous in your figurings?

In the first cross, the grulla is homozygous black, the dun is heterozygous black. Both are heterozygous dun. And, neither carry the cream gene.

Does that answer your question?

Thanks a bunch!

But I did pretty much have everything right, yes?

And, is that right with the rabicino--I could get any of those colors + rabicino?

not sure how rabicino works..if it is recessive or not

Jband will be on here in a bit.....she might know.

Just if you get a bay, the horse MAY still be homozygous black. But has the Agouti gene nailing the black expression.

You may get a Brown too....I'm still trying to figure out those genetics. I can't get a straight answer anywhere how "BROWN" is formed. It is Black with Agouti. May be homozygous black and agouti or double agouti? I gave up for a few days trying to figure it out as I get several different answers from sources.

So don't count Brown out....

Thanks BW for all of your help!

I'll have to ask JBandRio about the rabicino.

Yeah, I'm not sure how brown is formed/works either. I don't usually write it out in my possibilities, but always have it in the back of my mind.

Thanks again!

Okay, what's grulla, does that have to do with the dun gene? LIke a black with dun? I haven't figured out the definition for that one yet.
