Awww..... Melinda... a weed is just a misunderstood flower.
I thought Dandelions were the poofy white ones that you blow and spread their demon seeds all over the place.

I agree a weed and feed is probably best... but as to when you should apply and what type I have no idea. There are types of weed killers that you use when you want to kill them before they come up (pre-emergent) and ones you can use once they rear their ugly heads. Maybe ask you local ag office or your local garden/hardware store?

When I was a kid my mom would pay us 1 cent for each dandilion flower we picked. The first summer I think we each made $20 every time she had us do it (about once a month) the next year there were almost no weeds so she had to up the ante to 25 cents each... lol

Depending on how much property you have that could get expensive, plus unless you have kids of your own, I don't think you would get by with my moms piece rate. lol

Moms house sat on about a quarter acre.

Welcome to Kamloops They're everywhere! It's like the dandilions are taking over. . .anyways. My mom weed and feeds hers, and it seems to keep them pretty tame. And, if you get on top of it next year, they're much easier to get rid of. Good luck with the evil dandilions

Gee If I killed off the dendelions my lawn would be brown as in dirt showing..

Anyways...my lil donks love to eat dandelion heads and if I put a weed n feed on the lawn they would have to stay in their pasture which would make them very angry as they are accustomed to coming down to the house to visit daily.

This has been a banner year for those lawn pest's..The pastures around here are a sea of yellow and wish's.* that's what we call them when they go poofy *

You have to get a very early start on them, early spring you have to use a drop or broadcast speader with a weed and seed product, I like Scott's.It is easy on the spoil and one of the kinder ones enviomentaly speaking.* Round-up is the very best for the Earth *

Scotts make's a four phase treatment, that really cover's all the bases.
Scotts

I like to use the healthiest products all the way around,so getting an early start makes a huge difference. Dig the weed's out when they are small and the dirt is moist, then you can do a dust of lime, spread dry manure, top soil and peat moss right over your existing lawn and over seed it, we just did this, a healthy lawn with healthy grasses will choke the weeds out all on it's own , this is the easiest way to have a healthy lawn with the least amount of weed issues.

I do the same thing with my flower beds, organic mulch and lot's of it, planting close so weed's have less of a chance, sure some get in there, but with good soil they also pull out easily..

Ah summer

I will add, that when the flowers pop up mow them before they turn to fluff, and seed themselves. Put you mower on a low setting.
