she isnt lame now, i dont think she has ever come up lame. But there is a question that she may have weak long pasterns that she may not 'grow out of'
I have no idea if i should proceed as if they arent. and just wait for her to come up lame to know her limits.

Im sort of confused.

How bad are these mare's pasterns? Why do you think they are so bad that she wont be a sound riding horse? Have you gotten a vet's opinion?

Is it just me, or is anyone else not seeing a long pasterned horse in the most recent pics??

I'm seeing a horse with a VERY VERY upright shoulder angle, and a foot that isn't trimmed to match, without alot of heel, which is what is causing the "look of long pasterns"

Those pasterns are not long... LOL I will send you a picture of long. I would just start the horse and ride slow... As long as you do not push the horse you should be fine.
