Dilemma, bad weathers hitting!

Holy Moses, the bad weather just EXPLODED to my west and is now within an hour or so away from me and coming straight at me like a heat seeking missile LOL It went from 90 and sunny to 93,VERY humid and the dark clouds and lightning are moving in rapidly and the tornado warnings are many!

Ok, so Casey is out on pasture with Eddie. Hes due to be pulled off by 3 or 3:30, that will be not quite 7 hrs I've got him up to. The dilemma is this, if I pull him off BEFORE the storms hit then he is trapped in a 30x30 pen with nothing but a lean to(the pen size is what bugs me)
If I leave him with Eddie in the big pasture(maybe 3 acres) he has room to run from debris, has a lean to in there as well BUT that means he'll be on grass longer than I had planned. The pasture is hotwire and the corral is all wood.

What do y'all think? both ways I see as a risk, longer on grass but in a bigger area but no solid fencing or solid fencing, off the grass in time but no where to run
Man, its like having my kids out in a storm and not being able to protect them! Too bad I couldn't convince them to come to town and get in my basement

i'd put them in the corral. i'm worried about the hotwire fencing snapping off by the wind and hitting one of them and getting loose. do you have access to a barn?

yes and no. Theres a barn but I think my corral is sturdier but it will be cramped with both horses in there if they start freakin out lol the winds the news just said are in excess of 70 mph, that could definitely snap some wire fencing! heck, that could snap my corral boards!

I would go for the sturdier pen, unless there is a tornado warning, then I would leave them in the pasture. And, I would bring them in now, you don't want to be out there when the storm hits!
It's always a hard decision, we have had two nasty storms the past two nights and it is always hard to know what to do. We have a great turnout, but no shelter; a great shelter, but small runs to go with. We had to bring in 6 horses Monday night with 80 mph winds, lightening and 2 inch hail, we didn't want them out in the turn out b/c it has flimsy fencing and with the lightening....
We saw the storm coming and barely had time to grab the halters before it hit, trust me, you don't want to be caught out in it!

thats one of my problems, they are out where I board, I can be there in 5 mins BUT weather here changes fast, what may look just to be a storm can rapidly turn to a tornado and then what if I've made the wrong decision and I've already left? I got kids at home I can't drag out in this either nor do I want to leave them while its happening so I'll have to act in the next 30 mins or so.

That sort of wind IF it hits will likely take out some fencing or at least the power to it, the corral would hold and theres shelter unless the wind was bad enough to snap the chain holding the gate shut and then they'll be off and running lol

How much longer (than normal) would he be on grass if you left him out in the pasture?
