Why would she take the horse off beet pulp? He needs the beet pulp. Cubes and pellets can be soaked too....to a mush for him. But, he needs the beet pulp as well. Horse will never survive the way she is feeding him right now. He needs about 20 pounds of feed a day broken into 3 feedings. Not 2 pounds here and 2 pounds there. Why did she get this horse?

Okay, I wasn't sure about the difference in beet pulp.
Well i'm not sure why she took him off of beet pulp. I know she took him off of beet pulp after the vet was supposed to come (I don't know if the vet came or not) and that's when I thought maybe the vet told them to take him off of beet pulp.
I do know that the vet gave them medicine for the Cushings, but it's my understanding that Cushings is a problem with/in the pituitary gland, not with the thyroid. But Boss is telling me vet explained what Cushings was, and it was a problem with their thyroid.
I don't think we have Copra here either, I've never heard of it.
Thanks Sue B, I'll take a better look at that page. Can they do tests to figure out if a horse has Stringhalt or EPSM?

I don't think Cushings is the Thyroid. Could be wrong though. I hope the horse will be O.K. once she gets his diet straightened out.

So you think it would be safe for him to get soaked alfalfa cubes? The old owner was saying he'll choke on normal hay since he can't chew it but I don't know about the cubes.

I don't think it's the thyroid either but that's what the vet told them. I don't like that vet, i've used her once when my horse was boarded over there and she's a nut in my opinion. But you'd think she'd know about cushings...

Oh okay, yeah I've soaked them for our little baby appy, she had issues chewing them. But would he be able to digest them without them being chewed up properly?
