Rotation 1 and 2 are still called Rotation 1 and 2. You must have bought a different brand. What did you give him (chemical name)? Keeping the extra is fine, just use it the next time around that you use that chemical and store it properly.

That's a different brand (or at least a different product). I believe that that also treats for tapeworms. I wouldn't treat for tapeworms twice in a row. I don't suppose it would do any harm, but the tapeworm meds are expensive.

It is not good to deworm every other month now. The "new" recommeded studies are saying to deworm three times a year if you live in a cold climate and recommend this: April-treat only with FEC greater than 150 epg. The drugs used will depend on which drugs were used for previous treatments. Perform an FEC on all horses. This is the last treatment of the cycle and the last time you will need to perform FEC until September. For northern climates, the first treatment should be given in April and the last treatment can be given in November or December. September-use ivermectin or moxidectin December-ivermectin/praziquantel or moxidectin/praziquantel. Tapeworm transmission peaks in autumn, so treatment with praziquantel at this time will remove all the tapeworms acquired over the summer and autumn. Southern climate: Sept-ivermectin or moxidectin Nov/Dec-use together to help prevent resistance-oxibendazole and pyrantel Feb-Ivermectin/Praziquantel March-FEC test April-FEC test More information on this and treating 2 year olds and below go to www.thehorse.com
