| Senior Member+  |  Definition of a Hack
I know this must sound really retarded... but what is a hack? I always thought it was a trail ride, but now I don't know. Can someone make it clear?

I think some people consider it trail riding.. others cross country jumping... and others riding.... I think it depends on what part of the world you are from. Then there is "hunter hack" like mentioned above which is different. Personally a HACK to me is when you cough up something.. you know.. like "my cat just HACKED up a hairball"  |

To me, when I hack my horse it means I take him into the arena and ride him walk/trot/canter doing different exercises without jumping.

Hack is an "ENGLISH" Term that depends on who you ask, will depend on what the answer is. I always undestood it to be like a trail ride. But then I hear someone saying they "hacked" in the arena. I'm like OK. I'll just sit in my little ol' western view that HACK is something you or your animal does when your trying to cough something up.
