Dealing With EPSM and Insulin Resistance or...

i, for one, am happy to see this thread revive as IR, EPM and Cushings seem to be the issues de jour. any and all info is most welcome. i have cushings and IR in my yard and know that there are folks here that are quite well -versed in these things. i appreciate the info and the re-assurance that comes with it : )

any thoughts on the types of oils best to add the diet for epsm? i read coconut oil is good for EPSM horses who also have IR (my gelding) because it's a medium chain tri-glyceride. it's sooo expensive! ugh! prices for oil have gone way up with everything else but is there a cheaper oil i could feed that works to fulfill the increase in fat needed for the diet? i know it works because i see the results but sheesh...
