A day in the Life of R'nB...well the barn part with lots of pics & vids :)

Since I'm bored and took a few videos of the horses I'm currently working (or the up and coming ones) I figured I'd share them all

So to start, I do turn-in at the barn, and then my 1st pick out to work is this mare right here. Nitha (pronouced Nita) is a 10y/o DWB mare. Honestly before about 2months ago this mare NEVER did anything a human asked; this included picking up her feet . I took my time with this mare & won her over! As of last night she can now pick up all 4 feet without you even thinking she ever had a problem & she lunges with a bridle & surcingle on at walk & trot. The next daunting task will be having those feet trimmed. While this mare appears so sweet & kind, she really is a bit of a ticking time bomb, if I'm not 100% on my toes all the time, she can loose her marbels and I have been hurt more than once by this mare. She's come a long way, but I like to start with her because I'm then very fresh & ready for her

Some photos:
Confo:

Pretty mare photo, this was taken while we were working on ground work:

Now some video of Nitha:
Really check out the over-track this mare has, it's rather deceiving how much she IS moving out, as she doesn't have the big "flicking" front end, which is partially because she needs her feet trimmed (pls no comments about that) but mostly because she's very up-right in the front end.

Just think what I could get outta her if/when I'm, able to harness all that movement Oh the reasons I continue to torture myself thinking "I can MAKE something of this "old not broke in the head nasty wench mare" <-- I think I might have a problem hehehe

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I choose to either play with my little Fez man, who sadly I don't have any good updated photos......he has a wart & I'm waiting for it to be gone before I grace you with his presence. No need to gross any more people out by the sight of it

My update on Fez is that I put a surcingle on him for the 1st time, and he didn't give 2 poops about it! Decided that while I was doing it up, that it was premo time to grab & chew on the lunge line I had him on, just in case he pulled something. Yeah right, like that horse could care about anything! So I litterally threw the heavy leather surcingle over his back and did it right up, and he didn't care, didn't even move a foot. So I went over to the other side and tighted it right up nice & tight, like you would on a regular horse who was totally use to it. He looked at me, took 2 steps back, then put his head down & licked & chewed I love The Fez! Took him off the lunge line & put him out to free-lunge and yeah.....never even the thought of bucking to see if that thing would come off. AND YES this horse has NEVER had anything around his belly before! I can't wait to break this boy -- he is going to be a total hoot!

No video of the Fez, but here's a head shot & a quick video from a month ago (maybe some of you have seen it):

Video:
Oh and I totally battle with his mane & keeping the burs out....here's what I work on about every other day:
I made a thread in grooming about it, if anyone has questions.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh and this is the up and coming "project pony" She's a 2y/o DWB filly named "Chica". Some of you may remember her father "Wonder"....yes Chica is an "oops child". Anyways, here's a photo of her father Wonder just to refresh your memeber. He has been sold to Michigan.

Anyways, Chica doens't do anything besides be groomed to take the burrs outta her mane. She's only ever been free lunged twice I think, so she has seriously limited experience with anything. But she is SUPER cute & moves JUST LIKE her father. I refer to her as my little "Wonder Prodigee". She won't be big, I'll be lucky to get 15hh outta her, so I'm routen that she stays under 14.2hh so I can keep her & develop her into an FEI Dressage Pony

Sorry no photos....apparently I forgot

Video of Chica:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I usually tackle this big guy. You've all heard of him before, the big guy in training, who is currently for sale, Torreau! 9y/o DWB gelding, 1/2 brother to Nitha above, only he's so much quieter & has a better disposition. This boy has the best attitude EVER! He is trained to about level 2 Dressage, (jsut perfecting the canter) and has started 1/2 passing. He's a totally riot to ride & I LOVE this horse! I, as well as his owner, are in now hurry to sell this big boy.

Currently Torreau is on some "down time" as he needed a visit from the chiropractor. I'm not going to divulge what was found, as I want to have that as a bit of a "guessing game" for another thread, just to show how "slight" a chiro issue can be. But, here is a link to all the videos for a few months ago, when I was riding him. He's come a long way in his canter work since these, so no judging that Just click on anything that says "Torreau" in the title (way too many to post): http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...rch_type=&aq=f

Links to photos: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v281/ryckie/Torreau/

So there's a day in the life of R'nB at the barn! I love it, and wouldn't change it for a thing. The only thing missing is photos of the brood mare (Torreau & Nitha's mother & Chica's Grand mother) who I occasionally take out to re-do her tail & take the burrs outta her mane!

All lovely comments & questions totally welcome! Please just no critques or comments on anyones' confo, or Nitha's feet.....Thanks.

Glad it was enjoyed. I really enjoy playing with all the pretty ponies

I'll have to drag hubby out to get some new Fez videos & photos...and some of Torreau once he's sound enough to ride (check my post in health if interested in knowing more)

^^ hahaha CD that is soo cool! I think I'd like trying that kinda grooming out for a day, but I'm thinking my arms wouldn't by able to take all that waxing hehehehe

Oh and if I did I would get to buy this pair of shoes I want....boating shoes! hahaha I'd have good excuse!

While I still have a regular full time job, I love hanging with a barn of horses each night.

Check out that little Chica filly's tail -- it's hard to believe she's NOT a full or close to arab hehehehe. She makes me laugh!

^^ I'd love to do that, however, my regular full time job makes that not possible

I was talking to Chica's owner last night, and he thinks that Chica is going to be too tall to acutally BE pony size! *sigh* If that's the truth we won't make much off her, when we do go to sell. I haven't actually taken the time to measure her -- no point, it'll just disapoint me hahahaha I like to still dream of being able to acutally develop a great FEI pony.....one day that dream will hopefully come true!

CD did ya hear me say to Chica in the video "ya I know, here we go" jsut as the tail starts to curl over? hahahaha Ya as soon as she does that, I know she'll be dancing around like a skunk & start purring very shortly! hahahaha She's SOO predictable!

You certainly like to keep your hands full. I think Dizzy would run a mile if he saw us heading towards him with lime green stuff to put on him.
