Dandruff shampoo

Has anyone heard of using or not usin dandruff shampoo on your horse? If it's ok to use it on your horse have you used it, does it work??????

I used head and shoulders on Red. It actually worked really well, and he was sooo soft!

wouldnt the anti dandruff strip the coat of its grease (natural oil)...i may be wrong though lol!

Thanks, I tryed washing my horse today and it was a nightmare she HATES the water and she reared up and bumped me, she didn't knock me over but I was a lil disapointed because she's usually really calm. But yeah I just thought I'd share that w/ you guys lol

Tea tree oil has been very effective for me. Try to get a natural product (read the ingredients, not just the label!), as close to the tree as possible, so to speak.

What about horses who have really oily coats? My mare gets so greasy, and gross in the summer. Would Head & Shoulders work for drying out her coat?

Does head and shoulders work for all horses? I might have to try this! My horse has this problem too, but he has sensitive skin =(

I dont think head and shoulders would be good for that. It contains MORE moisturizers to moisturize the skin (make dandruff go away), so it might actually make it worse.

For your gal, i'd wash with a laundry detergent. I personally like Wisk, it works great. Just add about half a capfull to a bucket of water. My gelding gets really greasy, too, and this worked for me.
