Haha. No he doesn't. We're working on his weight problem. About him being lame, this video was taken about a year ago in Iowa while his old owner was longeing him. We had a vet check him before we bought him. He's always trotted like that on the lunge line. I know he is fine because last winter he went totally lame and the vet took x-rays and he was perfect from the hoof up. Other than that how does he look?

This is a nice natured short coupled horse that is totally bored with being lunged and mucked about with. He would benefit from some outings. He is not lame, has good rythm and is just lazy about lifting his feet and uses his head movement to tell you that he thinks having to do this tedious stuff is stupid. Give him a break, take him out away from his home and give him something to love about his life. Gallop, trekking, being loose in a huge paddock.

Video: Skip to 1:00 Just judge his trot and canter. I'm the girl that was actually riding him. Don't judge me though.

Thanks![/quote]

This horse does not look like he has any arab in him at all. He has a very good shoulder, not such a good rear end. His forte is his rythmic trot which would benefit from some enthusiasm. A bit short in the neck, a great head, fantastic eye. Control his diet, do some real work on him, get him out and about and he would be a different horse.

Yup. Thanks for all your input. He has such an active mind that you really do have to keep him busy. Right now he lives a large pasture with 4 other horses and cows in the pasture next to him. I found out he loves cross-country. Though hes not to brave on a course by himself, he loves a good gallop.

He really has some good stout legs and such a cute face.

My guy comes off winter pretty chubby (very easy keeper) but we are fortunate to have some very hilly country to ride in an he gets whipped into shape in no time. Well, not literally whipped, but you know what I mean.

Yeah. I do. Its funny, with Blaiz, hes turned out 24/7, is ridden 4-5 times a week, gets a little grain so we can feed his supplements, and hes the only horse that is overweight! Does anyone have any clue as to what other breed he might be?

Poor thing. He looks like he's pulling quite a bit on you on the lunge. Keerah does the same to me when she wants to get up and go. In an arena though, she's more put together and doesn't go faster than a trot on the lunge. It's weird.

I agree that in the video, he does look a little off, glad that you had this cleared up through X-rays, on the lunge he does tend to try to fall out through the sholder which I think is adding to him looking off, from a dressage perspective does he try and do this under saddle??? as this is something that you will need to work on.

Breed wise, I would agree that he doesn't look as though he has arab in him, he is a fairly nicely put together horse, good luck with him.
