have you tried a cribbing collar? alot of people say that they are bad and rub the hair off, but if you use the soft wool coverings, you should be ok... just please know that this won't stop your horse from biting at the barn, but it will stop them from sucking in the wind, and help prevent colic... best of luck!!

[quote=Sonny-Dee-Girl;2763187]- -cd_horton- Thanks for the insight into surgery. I am going to investigate the surgical option. I want to know as much as possible before I seriously consider it. My mare is 8 years old, and has been cribbing at least 5 years. She doesn't crib much in the pasture and so far she has very healthy teeth with no abnormal signs of wear. She is not a terribly aggressive cribber, and when stalled, she only cribs intermittently (with collar she does not even attempt to crib) I wonder what her prognosis would be? quote] Light to moderate cribbers have a much higher success rate, it sounds like your horse would be a great candidate. Its the ones that are very agressive and have cribbed for many, many years that the results are more risky...many of those type horse wont be able to crib, but will still "grab and pull" as it has developed into a habit. Since your horse doesnt even try with a collar on, I would think that once she figured out she no longer can crib, she would stop all together.
