Covering a mare with foal at foot!! PLEASE RESPOND

Mystal's baby is now 4 1/2 months old however we are in w inter now and its freezing! Mystal is dropping weight. I really dont want to wean them yet as i want to try and last till 6 months! Can you cover a mare when a foal is at foot?

we put a rug on our mare when she had a foal at foot we just left the back leg straps of it so it didn't interfere with the foals suckling.

Sure you can, and they even make blankets for foals..if the mare is cold, so is the baby...
