Question Counting out Strides...Need some help!

Ok, so I always see people count out the strides (walking the course) before their course and we have done it at my barn but I always forget how many of are steps are one horse's stride?

I was thinking that it is either 3 or 4 of our big steps was one of the horses??

Also when counting the strides...you take one big step for the horse's landing before you start to count the strides right?

Thanks!

Counting the strides depend on your own. For me, I know what size of my strides equals my horse's strides - 4 of mine. My friends strides are 3 for my horse.

The landing should be 6', as well as the take off.

thanks but how do I figure it out....I know it is either 3 or 4 I just can't remember for the life of me....I have counted out his strides before I just for some reason can't remember if it was 3 or 4...

He is 15.3 and has a really long stride so I think it was prolly 4....

Should I try doing 3 of mine and then 4 of mine and seeing which one it is?

Yes, I can't tell you how big of strides you take when you walk. If you have a barrel handy, you can use that. Standing up they are 3'. So if you lay it down, that's 3 feet, then see how many steps it takes you to go 12'
