Cordless clippers. Pros and cons

Cordless Clippers.

Who has them?
Love them or hate them?
What brands are good if any?
Anyone body clip with them or just to touch up work?

Unless they are battery powered, you will have to charge them frequently. Also, you generall dont get as much UMPH out of cordless, since they are not out of a direct energy (and constant energy) source. A pro is that they are very handy and you dont have to worry about cords (esp. with fidgety horses).. also, they can be used when there is no outlet (ie. in the stall). I still have to say that i prefer corded ones for their power- however I have no problem with the cord because my horse stands very well for clipping. It depends on your situation. As far as brands go... I love Osters (worth their price), i have had too much trouble with Wahls, and no name brands are just cheap. with clippers, you essentially get what you pay for

For cordless, there's 5 good options for you. Andis (much more balanced in weight over Oster), all blades are interchangeable with any of the corded clipper blades, and then there's 4 excellent Wahl clippers: The Mini Arco which can be corded or cordless. Worth a fortune when it comes to doing tall horses who don't like ears done, perfect for muzzles, eyes, ears. The big Arco clippers which are cordless only, have a multi position blade (not like the cheap adjustables) and good for loads of things, including legs, bridle paths, ears, faces, etc. They are powerful enough to body clip with, there's also the Wahl Bravura or Chromado clippers that are very comparable and all of professional grade.

I have 2 pairs of Andis Cordless clippers, 4 batteries and can get through a horse with the 4 batteries when Im body clipping. We also have 2 pairs of the mini arcos that we take to shows with us for touch ups.

We have used both, only for touch up work, and cordless is not as good as corded clippers. The cordless clippers are much weaker and usually dont last as long, battery wise. Corded clippers are much stronger and dont have to worry about charging or changing batteries. Also corded clippers cut much better which if your going to be body clipping you would probably want. The advantage with cordless clippers is well they are cordless, unlimited mobility, don't have to worry about wrapping the cord around the horse, or worry about a mouse eating a cord .

If you get the right cordless clippers, they will have the ability to do a show ring clip. When I was a groomer, we'd use them daily for professional work and they've carried over to our horses very well.

We have some MOSER Horseline 'cordless'... they are like battery powered, there's two packs that you charge up at home and then take them out to use.
LOVE THEM.
Where I board, there's only 2 places you can attach mains clippers to. And only one that we're allowed to use for clippers. I forget what the other is for. So the cordless come in way handy because it means we can shave Dinah's legs without having to sit with heavy loud things for ages. They work really well and you can switch the length of blade by a little switch on the clipper.
The other plus is that Ace is a clipper phobic - a problem we're working on. Having cordless means we can switch them on and off quick, get out the way without worrying about a cord, not have to use the mains socket where it is (in the stand-ins... the roof is low enough for her to hit her head if she reared vertically or whatever) and they're ultra quiet.

Oh and we will be body clipping, not full bodies but trace, blanket or chaser clips... we also do legs with them.

personally i think both cipper types have their advantages. for cordless, they are great for desensitisizing your horse to the clippers for the first time. and they are great for the face, and the parts that your bigger clippers cannot get to. on the other hand, with cord clippers. you have more power and constant power.
