We ask that you please do not post these in the gallery. If you wish to refer to these pictures post a link to the photographer's web site. Even if the pictures aren't the greatest, they still are the photographer's. We do occasionally receive contacts from these photographers requesting their removal because they are unpaid for. Besides, HGS does state in the FAQ to not upload copyrighted pictures.

Please take some time to go through your own gallery and remove copyrighted pictures (this includes proofs that are marked as such).
What does that mean, watermarks?

I have never heard that term before.

I am sure that Kelli won't mind me using an example of her work, it is so good and I knew she would have an example of a watermark somewhere. (if she does I am quite happy to remove it) It is her own work so she is entitled to use it. See the writing on it, that is a watermark.

Moostang- Lol, I'm glad I do not have your job... I'd go blind as well

I don't think that I have anything with a watermark on it, but Ill re-look. I'm also an aspiring photographer, but getting my website going so that will for sure be in my sig.

Sorry, I just have to be clear on this - in my case I have purchased the photo print from the photographer, so is it ok to post it here or not? Sorry I am confused about copyrights and such. I do understand the ones that are watermarked have not been purchased, but I'm asking about pictures that I bought from the photographer. ?

If you bought them from the photographer then you should have the right to use that photo however you want.

As an owner of many copyrights (and watermarks) I'd like to say 'thank you' for tackling this.
For any of you who buy photos...truly...the watermark should have been removed on your 'proof.' If not...I'd be doing some serious talking!

So if we have a photo that we downloaded from the internet that we are fond of and is on a public website we can't post it? And am I understanding correctly that our own photos need to be purchased? How does that work?
