Copra vs Rice Bran

What is the difference between Copra and Rice Bran. I've asked this before but somehow I can't seem to understand what I'm being told. I must be daft!
Both are high in oil and protein. Apparently Copra is higher in Protein and I am told Rice Bran has more Carbs. Can someone tell me some differences, similarities, advantages and disadvantages? This is for an old pony that needs to get condition on. Thanks heaps and sorry if I'm a bit slow on the uptake.

I can't give you a lot of detailed info, but the Copra is more like a ration balancer or condensed fortified feed, where rice bran is simply-well, rice bran! Though it has a lot of good nuritional value by itself.

Hopefully, these links will help.

Here's some good information about the differences between rice bran and copra:

Quote:
Other rich sources of vegetable fat include rice bran and copra meal. Rice bran is 18-22% fat while copra meal (a by-product of coconut processing) is 8-9% fat; both are good sources of highly digestible fiber and are low in starch and sugar, and they are useful when a reduction in dietary starch is desired. Both, however, are naturally high in phosphorus and low in calcium. They should be used in limited amounts, especially if the calciumhosphorus ratio of the total ration is not balanced.
If you want to see the source that all came from this article: http://www.smartpakequine.com/Articl...treallyhealthy.

I think both could work for your pony. But if he's needing weight I think I might go for Rice Bran over Copra as it has a slightly higher fat content. But I've heard lots of good things about copra as well. And it really depends on what else he's getting.
