Unhappy Coolie's Vet Check UPDATE

She's not prego... he said try once more in the spring, and if she doesn't take then she isn't going too... I've been crying my eyes out for an hour, I can't believe she's not prego...

Oh yeah, btw....he said it being late in the season fertility could be low in both mare and stallion... so we're praying for spring to work out!

Thanks Becky, I was really excited, it's a HUGE let down... but I don't love the old gal any less..

Drafts, my mare is in Top condition, and she'll be 21 come spring.. the vet is really amazed that she hasn't taken, as she's healthy and strong... she doesn't even look her age, she looks 10 years old..

Awww, Steph I am so, so very sorry. I know you was looking so forward to her being pregnant. That must be so heartbreaking for you. Are you going to try again next yr.?

Yes I was Angie, and thank... Yes, we're going to try once more in spring time... if she doesn't take I'll just have to breed another mare to him so that I don't loose my money... I'll have a new one by then, so it won't be too bad, but I'm hoping she takes, as I want her foal very badly..

It is sometimes harder to get older mares to breed and mostly if they have never been bred before or it has been along time between breedings. You might want to see about getting her a shot before you breed her in the spring to make her heat stronger. I can't remember the name of it. But I might help.

Best of luck to you in the spring!!
