Has this farrier been trimming her the entire time you've had her?

That can have some impact on how she ended up with a dropped heel and a long toe, for sure.

Bingo. For some of these associations, if you've ever nailed iron on a horse's hooves, you cannot EVER be certified as a barefoot practioner.

To the OP--if the horse need shoes, find a farrier that will shoe. You're wasting your time with your barefoot practioner.

Most of a farrier's business is barefoot trims. . . .However, they can and do shoe. Why not use one that is more than a one trick pony and sometimes not a good one at all.

Pretty much. The first farrier I used got in such a big hurry and was rough with her. This farrier happened to be at the barn one day months ago and has been doing her hooves since. I really trusted him to know what he's doing. He has a full list of clients and 30+ years experience. Guess I should've paid more attention He's been trimming her every 6 weeks.

At what age was she stacked?

If she's been off of stacks for that long, I'd venture to guess her problems don't come from that. Just bad trimming.

I'm going to start calling around tomorrow and asking around at the local tack shops and feed stores. There has to be somebody out there who will do a better job.

She was stacked at two and three years old, so six years ago (correction to original question) she stopped wearing them as far as I know. I do know I'm her 4th or 5th owner I think? I'll have to look at her papers again. I don't know why she's been passed around so much in nine years. She's really a great mare.

So, she probably had the colt package at first. It's not too extreme. I'm not an advocate of this practice, BTW. It can have lasting damage depending upon how long the horse was stacked.

Would be interesting to see if her previous owners kept her stacked and passed her around because she wasn't winning or she doesn't gait well.

I thought the same thing. She seems to do fine undersaddle on just casual rides but I have no idea how she did in shows. She does try to rack now and then but she's easy to bring back down to a flat walk and is like riding a cloud. Her show record as far as I know is not posted online but I haven't really looked extensively since I don't show.
Her registered name is Silver Dollar Magic. Her sire is Generator's Silver Dollar & her dam is Beaming On Me.

Is there a reason why you don't like her to rack, Missy? Many TWH, rack, just curious.
