overall, I like the looks of him. He looks like he may have a fair amount of TB in his bloodline?? But I do agree with Truecolours in the fact that he isn't very well developed for an 8 year old stallion. He looks like a gelding actually....a very nice gelding, but not a stallion. Hmmmmm. But I wouldn't be using a DWB to breed for 3 day. TB or Trakehner is tops for 3 day. Where is this stallion located? I've never heard of him before.

He's located in Broken Arrow, OK. There is a big H/J barn there (Silver Creek Sport Horses, if you want to Google them) that does a lot of warmblood breeding. I actually used to work there, and don't agree with the owners on a lot of things, but I do think they picked out a nice stallion when they got this guy.

When you guys say "not very well developed", do you mean muscle-wise? Or because his neck doesn't have a big crest? Sorry to sound stupid, I just don't know all that much about analyzing conformation. I can see what you mean about his neck being a tad low, though.

I know DWB's aren't real popular for eventing, but I am looking for a stallion with scope, fluid movement and refinement to balance out a mare that has great speed, endurance and guts, but lacks some style and scope for the bigger fences. That's kind of why I'm looking at WB's rather than TB's for this particular cross.

Thanks for all the opinions and info, guys! I really do appreciate it, since I know what I want in a riding horse, but need to learn more about how to pick it out.

If I were looking to breed for an upper level event horse, I would be seeking a stallion that had an accomplished record in eventing (or proven sire of upper level eventers) or a more of GP jumper type rather than a horse than does the 3'-3'6" H/J.

He is so pretty! He looks like he would be great to breed and he also has a very nice jump. His conformation is is good his neck looks a little short in the donforamtion shot though.

He jumps 4'6"+ comfortably, just hasn't been shown due to the owners not being able to keep a trainer long enough to campaign him. So he has the scope, but not the proven record.

What in his conformation is not good for eventing? I'm not set on this stallion or anything, so I just want to learn the specific points that would impede him, and help me pick the best possible (in my price range) stallion.

I think he's lovely. They have some nice stallions at that barn. I really like the look of Autobahn.

I don't see anything in his conformation that would preclude him from producing a foal with eventing potential.

While it's true that the KPWN hasn't, in the past, focused on eventing - they certainly clean up in show jumping and dressage - 2 of the 3 elements you're looking for.

BTW - I event at the intermediate level on a DWB gelding, so I'm a bit prejudiced. He is the most talented horse that I've owned to date.

Good Luck with your choice.

I really liked the look of Autobahn too, but he's still in Europe, so I didn't get to work with him in person. Talk about a huge mover! Did you watch his at liberty video? Biggest trot I've ever seen. /end hijack/

I 100% approve. I actually seriously was looking at him before he had any foals on the ground. Main reason I passed on him was that I would have been linebreeding Saros. Too much hot blood in my opinion for my mare.
