It sounds like he's getting bored with what you're doing with his training, so while he may not be quite ready to canter under saddle, I would, in order to relieve his boredom and expand your confidence, ASK for canter a few times a session and work on your jog/canter/jog transitions. When it is expected, it isn't as scary and if you're working on transitions, you're only doing a few strides of it. As he advances in his training, your confidence will advance to match him. |
