concerned about eye

Heres the sitch-

A week or so ago I noticed a small bump on the lid of Eddies eye. It has yet to go away but I don't think it's gotten any bigger. It was NOT there before. Thankfully he's gentle so I got a good look at it. It doesn't appear to have ever been punctured/broken skin but it could have been and healed over.

It is hard and round, when I peel open his eyelid I can push on the little bump and see it under the skin on the inside as well. It "almost" looks like it could be like a zit or a sty would look on a human. I lightly squeezed and nothign came out of it but because I don't know what it is I didn't want to open it. From the outside it just looks like a bump, from the inside it almost looks like its yellow, like a pimple but you can't see it inside unless you apply pressure from the outside of the lid and then you can see it.

Make sense? I can't draw so I'm inserting a pic I found. Where the red dots are (were already on pic) on the lower lid rim is right where this thing is and its no bigger than one or two of those little dots.

Anyone have a clue? Does it sound like any condition you are aware of,something I shouldbe concerned over etc? I have found one or two pics while I type this from a week or so ago that it appears there "may" be a "head" on it,like a pimple that I'd never noticed before. I'll edit as many pics as I think you might be able to see what it is.

I just don't know if I should be worried there's a splinter or something in there so I don't know if I'm being my paranoid self or if it's a real problem

ok, apparently I took this pic on Easter weekend and sure enough there was a zit looking bump there, I don't know how I missed that

Anyways, all there is there now is flesh toned skin,no sign of any injury or infection but there is obviously still something under the skin. It could be goo, it could be a splinter.

If it was you, how do you deal with that? It's not interfering with the actual eye but I don't want it to either! Can a horse get a zit? lol

I wouldn't be overly concerned as long as it's not causing problems with the eye itself and not growing. If the eye is irritated, draining, etc or the lump is growing I would have a vet examine it.

Horses can get clogged follicles or even get foreign bodies (small thorns, etc) in the skin that the body then walls off forming a little hard knot.

thanks for the thoughts. I think I'm tripping out because a lady in my area had a horse get a large splinter(or thorn) in it's face, it got infected badly and the horse had to be put down.

Eddie and Casey both have a favorite piece of wood that they scratch themlseves on all the time and my guess if the big goof got a splinter.

It's not affecting his eye that I can tell, it looks normal and identical to the other eye with the exception of this so I'll hold off on a vet call (my pocket book thanks me) unless I see it worsen.

I'm not familiar with eye issues so hopefully I will learn some things from this thread to be more prepared with how to spot issues and treat them.

I've seen that before, or something that resembles it. It was just a blemish. Never went away, but I think developed later in his years. Perhaps you never noticed it before??

It's possible MissB, I've been so busy lately and on edge. I am wondering if you are right. Remember when I posted pics of 2 spot on Caseys face recently missing hair and you or someone pointed out one of the looked like a scar? It was lol I went back to pics when I first got him and there it was. I guess he came to me so beat up that I never saw that little mark!

This could be as well, I hope at least. My friend told me to quit looking them over so well lol She said I'll make myself crazy looking at all their owies doing daily inspections. She's right I will but I am so determined to take god care of them that If there's a hair out of place I know it
