Question Colour of foal

Not sure if this is the right section, but.....

A friend and i were tryng to see if we could guess the colour my mares foal may be.....

Thought it may be fun to see what you guys would think.....

Mum is a pali, and Dad is a Black & white tobiano.

He's not the best stallion (i bought her in foal to him) so dont worry about the confo critique ....

They claim he is Homozygous black and pattern.........Not sure about the pattern, but to me he looks black/brown.

mum....

dad - Not sure why it came up black, but click on it to see...

daddy actually looks like a brown and white because his muscle and flanks are light brown. I think she'll have a buckskin,bay/brown,chestnut paint or solid.

Yes, well i think he's dark brown, not black. Not sure what his parents are... Certainly leaves a few possible outcomes tho......

He could be a bleached out black.....

If they say homozygous though, he shouldn't bleach out that bad.

MOmma has 1 Creme and is red based ee

Ok, if he's homozygous black, he will be an EE

So the foal will be Black based. Ee.

If either carries the Agouti and there is a high chance for it, the foal will be a bay base color, if not, chance of a brown color'd foal....so if no agouti, the solid color may be brown.

So you have a 50% chance at a Bay and a 50% chance at a Buckskin coloration.

Then, depending on if he is homozygous or heterozygous for the paint pattern, you have a 50/50 chance at a painted out foal.

So basically, you have a 25% chance at a bay, bay paint, buckskin, or buckskin paint.

if there is no agouti......25% chance at a brown or black paint, brown or black solid, smoky, or smoky paint.

Homozygous black doesn't necessarily mean the bleaching won't happen, or won't happen too badly. There seem to be other factors in play as to whether a horse fades or not.

Well they said he is homozygous black & pattern - but in reality they have no clue... At one stage they tried saying he was the sire of a certain dark buckin/bayish SOLID foal..... Says it all right there, But have now removed that foal from his list of progeny. (perhaps they saw the irony in that foals picture and mentioning in the same paraghaph that he's currently being tested for Colour and pattern).?
The stllion is backyard bred and this mare is carrying his first foal (That they know of).

So its not possible for him to be so 'sunbleached" and be homozygous black?
He hasnt changed in colour, they said he was 'sunbleached' but its almost winter now, and winter coat etc, his colour has remained the same.

I'm just confused here....is this foal the stud's first, or does he actually have other foals? Or did I just read it wrong?
