ok my gelding was born dark bay almost black now he looks like he will shed out a buckskin now his sire and dam are both buckskins (hollywood dunnit)
his full sisters are palimino and buckskins no bays. so can a 2 year old turn color like this that different?

Buckskins can shed out darker and lighter, like palominos and even regular chestnuts. If you wanted to know for sure, you could have him DNA tested.

I think JBand Rio meant you could have him Coat Color Tested. UC Davis does coat color testing. We use them for all of our coat color test and they are very good. We've tested well over 10 horses there and we've been nothing but satisfied.

Buckskin x Buckskin gives you the following possibilities:
Buckskin
Palomino
Smokey Black
Bay
Sorrel
Black
Perlino
Cremello
Smokey Cream
