Black base with a creme....

So a smokey black, Buckskin....or if you can find one, a perlino will give you the best chances at the creme, and they are black based as well.

But remember, don't take "COLOR" as the only issue in your choice. Conformation should be above color.

To guarantee buckskin, you'd have to find a Perlino who is homozygous black and homozygous bay. There is no guarantee for Overo though.

That's what I was going to say. Are you looking for a QH stallion? What are you wanting to do with the baby?

On a sorrel coat, it is hard to get a buckskin. I don't even know if you could get a buckskin. You would be more likley to get a palomino.

shell, see my post on guaranteed buckskin

The mare is ee?? (2 red genes, unknown bay modifiers)
A Perlino who is homozygous black and bay is EEAACrCr

The Perlino will pass E, A, and Cr - that gives buckskin right off the bat. The mare will pass e and either a or A, and none of that trumps the buckskin that the Perlino gave. The foal would be EeA?Crcr - buckskin

Perlino is a double-dilute Bay

A smokey cream (or smokey black, or black) is aa.

ah...ok...but are they homozygous for the agouti?

According to the Animal Genetics Corporation.....the Agouti is either hetero or homozygous...same with the Black base....EE or Ee
