The term Overo, Tobiano, Tovero is how the horse looks Phenotypically. Not just genetically. While there are several "overo" looking horses that have no overo gene, they are Sabinos. But it is hard in some cases to determine what threw the color pattern without genetic testing and looking at the parentage of the horse.
I know he may carry it since Overo can be hidden but as far as proof from his get he does not have it.

Isn't Sabino classified as overo also by APHA standards?

Yep, definitely Sabino.

And yes, Sabino is one form of Overo - Frame, Splash, Sabino.

It's very very difficult to prove a horse doesn't carry a particular gene if that gene is an incomplete dominant, such as Overo and bay. It's one of those things where it's easy to prove they have it when they throw it, but you can't say they don't have it if they don't pass it on.

If he were to have 100 foals on the ground, all out of solid mares, and not a single Overo out of them, then it's pretty safe to say he doesn't carry it, but 100 foals doesn't guarantee it. 500 foals would be a pretty safe bet that he didn't carry it

My horse is a Buckskin solid color paint, and her Dam was a sorrel quarterhorse and her Sire was a Sorrel/Overo, This probly is not the right breeds and colors you need to do because my horse has five generations of Buckskins and five generations of Palimino. I hope this was helpful but it probly isn't..

You cannot get a buckskin from a sorrel x sorrel - you only get sorrel from that combination.

HEHE you can if you live in Indiana... west terre haute that is where they breed a cremello mare with no papers and put her babies on other registered mares that have solid babies and people around that area are too uneducated to know better LOL ....

Yep...I agree with Jband. Someone either lied about the mare or stallion used........

Your horse can have 5 generations of Buckskins and palominos all they want. ....but if the two horses do not express the creme...they don't HAVE the creme.

Is your horse registered? If so, do you mind if I take a look at the registration papers with the association? ALl I need is a name and reg number if possible.

FYI....sorrel is eeCC. Buckskin is EECrC or EeCrC

So since both momma and daddy of your horse were eeCC....there is no scientific, natural way that your Buckskin can exist from that combination.
