Question Color rubbing off saddle

Just got a new saddle, never been cleaned as I just got it today off of trial. Id been riding in it with that cling wrap stuff and when i rode today without it, the color started to rub off from the stirrup leathers from when my leg moves. Is there any way to prevent that or lessen the degree that it rubs off the color?

If there is a hole in the saddle flap, near the stirrup bar, than you can put your stirrup leathers under your saddle flap. This only works good if you are using a long girth though, but it's worth a try.

There are sheepswool or synthetic fleece sleeves that you can put over the leathers. Somebody posted them in a thread a few months ago.

Or you can cut a hole in the end of a tube sock then use braiding bands to keep it placed properly!

Buy better stirrup leathers that are made of wrapped calfskin (around a nylon core). They won't rub and mess up a saddle.

Clean and oil the saddle, then oil the saddle some more. Getting those flap well broken in will prevent the color from rubbing off.

You could also try some synthetic leathers. I have some micro-fiber Courbette Smart Choice leathers, one pair of 48 and one pair of 54. Both are new (got the wrong color, oops!). The material is soft suede-like with a nylon core. Very nice! They are havana. If you want a pair, pm me .
