Color question on Kandee! Will she throw color?

This is Kandee's daddy, Kenos Riverdance.

http://www.kenosriverdance.com/

APHA/PtHA
1997 Cremello Tobiano Stallion

Sires guaranteed 100%
Palomino, Buckskin, Dun, Grulla & Black foals

15.2 hands, 1400 lbs
stout, athletic, outstanding dispostion!

OLWS Negative
A/B Informative

Kandee herself is a bucksin tobiano. Her mom was bay, I THINK. Her mom was
MMUSKETS CRESSIDA.

If Kandee is bred to a black homozygous arabian [this is all just figuratively, by the way ] would she produce color? Or pattern? Color AND pattern?! I should send some of her mane off to be tested is what I need to do.

If Kandee's dam was not pinto, then Kandee herself is heterozygous for Tobiano. This means there's a 50/50 chance she'll pass that on.

She has 1 creme gene, making her buckskin, and she has a 50/50 chance of passing that on.

We know she is heterozygous for black (her sire gave her one red gene), so unless she is bred to a homozygous black stallion, she has a chance of producing a red-based foal. If bred to a homozygous black stallion, then the base "color" would either be black or bay, with a 50% chance of having a creme added (smokey black, buckskin) and a 50% chance of having Tobi added.

The only thing of value in her testing would be to see the Agouti status - you know she is Ee, you know she is Crcr, you know she's Tt.

Thank you!! So basically everything is pretty much 50/50. That's what I figured.

And I don't plan on breeding her for a super super long time, IF ever. She's not really...breeding material, but I might find a stud that could help her a bit. That's if she even is any good at what I plan for her. If not, no breeding for the Kandee butt.

Wow! I didn't know Kandee was by Keno's Riverdance! He's a gorgeous stud. I was almost thinking of him when I bred my mare, but then I went with the closer (and a bit cheaper) stud.

My Palomino gelding is a grandson of Far Ute Keno. It's a good line. My guy is so level headed, hardly anything bothers him.

As far as color... I think Tobianos throw color a lot more than overos. I can't remember exactly what I read, but I think Overo's throw 50/50 and Tobiano's almost 100??? Not sure of that though. So you have a good chance for a loud baby. I think for the cream gene it would be 50/50.

No. A heterzygous tobiano has 50% chance just like a frame overo does. IF the horse is homozygous for tobiano thatn yes you are garenteed color, but this horse is not homozygous so it is 50% chance.

Appylvr might have been thinking of the extension linkage with tobiano. If the tobiano were linked to the red 'e' (which it would be in this case) then a VERY high percentage (approx. 93%) of the sire's foal's who inherit the 'e' it is connected to will be tobiano. But he still only passes the particular 'e' 50% of the time.

Yep, he's her daddy I hadn't even heard of him before I looked up her pedigree LOL

Nothing bothers Kandee, either. She's settled down extremely quickly, and is so level headed. Granted, she still spooks at stuff on the trail [I think she does it so she's not bored], but that's the "Scarabian" in her.
