Splash is one of the three overo patterns... Like the color is thrown from the bottom up. Often they have bald faces. They may also have blue eyes.

I love Splash overos! My favorite pattern

Here are a couple of very famous Paint studs that are Splash. Both were crop out QH's...

Gambling Man (my favorite Paint stud)

Important to note there are likely other patterns involved in the horses posted by Haas. The foal obviously has more than splash and I suspect the dam does as well.

This is the best explanation of splash I have ever read:

next time I use a stallion Im gonna look at Dímons half brother
Seđill frá Vatnsleysa, he so beautiful, hes is young and I will be ceeping an eye on him in the futur

oh and for those how wanna know... this was Dímons arrival V

They both tested negative for LWO so the only other possible pattern is sabino for both and Tobiano for the filly. There is also a chance that one or both could be homozygous for splash. The mare has never thrown one that is not splash. Also I never stated that that was the only pattern. Many paint/pinto horses have more than one pattern. Until they have a test for any other genes the only two overo genes that can be tested for are SB1 and LWO. So until there are tests for the other sabino patterns and splash it is only a guess on what patterns are actually there or not there. I also have not heard of anyone trying to develop a test for splash. Do you know of any?
