The udder of a palomino can still be freckled, the the teats are usually black (or dark, compared to a champagne).

Here's a great page with many photos to differentiate perlino, champagne, palomino, etc:
http://www.ichregistry.com/identification.htm

ETA: I see SnaffleBit's photos came from this page....

That foal is 100%, without question a gold champagne. No doubts about it.

Yep, I was thinking the dam's muzzle was very dark. So I went hunting to see if I could find a confirmed Champagne with a darker one as well.

Is he confirmed though? Has he been tested? I still don't see anything about him that says 'champagne'. He totally looks pally.

Even his manly-parts are black skinned, and the eyes are normal. I just see pally.

The ICHR is very good about it from what I'm told. They even helped people discover the "Pearl" dilute by recognizing it as not Champagne so I would trust them to know their examples are Champagnes.

You can see his foal coat is very "Champagne" in appearance as well, so yes, I personally would consider him confirmed. Also, I think his "man bits" are in shadow, making them look a lot darker than they may be.

People do make mistakes, especially if they are going by foal photos only. I'm not saying that for sure they are wrong and I am right, I'm just saying that there is nothing about this horse that would make me think he is champagne.

This photo tells me nothing - it could definitely be a palomino colt.

You also have to go by pedigree. He is a Friesian cross so there is no chance of his sire giving him a cream gene. "Palomino" looking or not, genetically, he might only have a chance of being a Champagne.

Unless the dam is Palomino . . .
Or the sire is not the sire . . .

I know the second one is very unlikely, but not impossible (that's why I started the 'friesian' thread, because I was thinking, "How did that come from that").

I'm going to try to find a pic of the dam we can look at.
