Norsire is pretty darn famous for colored TBs I didn't look at the link, but they're somewhere in Virginia and have quite the breeding program!

Ebony Gold Orchid -2004 Reg. Jockey Club TB Buckskin mare by Billionair out of Rita On The Rocks by Rock Point. Ebony is one of our homebreds and we are extremely proud of her! This wonderful filly has Class written all over her. Approaching her third year, she is blossoming into quite a lady. Her natural and even head carriage accentuates her flowing trot. This filly covers the ground with an element of style, and if you can take your eyes off of her magnificently dappled coat, you will see that she's got what it takes to be a super star. Her trusting personality adds an air of confidence to her presence. We can just picture her passing these lovely traits on for years to come. Ebony is "All That & More!" Ebnoy is infoal to Zillionair for a May 2008 foal.
I lose total respect for as a breeder ...

She is by Billionair and has been bred to the full brother to her sire - Zilionair - so is being bred to her uncle. Why??? I guess to try and produce a double dilute ... No other earthly good reason for doing so other than that ...

That is just simply wrong ... ... IMO anyhow ...

There are some simply terrific coloured TB breeders out there that I DO have a great deal of respect for - Dalene Knight at Painted Desert Ranch, Nancy McEachren at Colorworld Ranch, Gwen Gregorio in Germany, etc
They have done things the right way and I have the utmost of respect for them and what they are achieving ...

I have to agree with this. I have ethics concerning horse breeding and breeding to the full brother of a horses sire does not fit in with those ethics. Oh well....

Wouldn't the COIs be very close if she was bred to just about any Milkie bred stallion? I briefly looked at the peds, and it's the major contributor Milkie that would push the COI past acceptable.

I haven't done the math, but I've seen much tighter Arabian peds. Don't get me wrong, they are probably toeing the line as far as acceptable COI. But going to an 'uncle', and the hybrid bottom half of her pedigree goes a long way to mitigating most potential issues.

Just a thought....

I personally have no problem with it as long as she is ready to cull it and not repeat the breeding if it doesnt come out as planned. That could really solidify the traits and make a very very nice colt or filly.

The in-breeding co-efficient is about 13.3%. The "dangerous zone" starts at about 10% Anything over 10% you can start noticing in-breeding depression in performance characteristics.

In-breeding over 12% are very consistent producers. Once you find whatever they nick with, they will be very consistent with him and his relatives.

So... if it turns out to be a truly exceptional foal then the "line-breeding" could pay of with not only a nice foal, but an exceptional producer/sire.

Or... you could end up with a real nag (see above about "in-breeding depression" and performance).

Her relationship co-efficient tells me the probability than any one gene will have come from Milkie is 28% by the way.

The foal will only have 3 common ancestors, Image of Gold, Queen Debonair and Milkie and they are therefore the only ones that can contribute to an in-breeding coefficient. Milkie is only in one pathway that connects Zillionair to Ebony which means he only contributes .8% to her 13.3% coefficient.
