| Senior Member+ | Color pattern(s) on this filly and gelding (gelding added post #8) Just wondering if someone could tell me what color pattern(s) this filly might carry...and what (if any) patterns the mare carries. Let me know if you need any other pictures, and I'll try to get them. Unfortunately, I don't have any other pics of the stud, and I think he's since been sold. Filly: Mare: Stud:

| Senior Member+ | off topic but how long has the mare's back been that low, did you get her like that? how does it happen? this is like the 7th horse I've seen like that and I can't figure it out.

| Senior Member+ | It's been that way for a few years now...mostly due to age, lack of exercise (it improves to a degree if she gets regular exercise) and carrying 7 foals throughout her life. She'll be 23 this year, and it just started getting noticeable in the past couple years...we've had her her entire life.

| Senior Member+ | Can you educate me a bit on what exactly makes you say those? I'm trying to figure all these color patterns out, but I'm so confused, I thought it might help it stick in my brain if I see it explained on my own horses Also, what pattern would the mare carry?

As for the baby- The white on her is basically "framing" her. The white never crosses the back. The edges are jagged. What makes me say splash is the legs. Frame does not put white on the legs. So if there is white there then theres another pattern. Also the bald face and mustache sream splash to me.

| Senior Member+ | Also...opinions on this gelding? I'm going to guess splash because of the white on the legs...but beyond that I'm lost

As for the gelding I am going to say frame and Tobiano possibly splash, but I dont think so. The markings are very similar to where tobianos have white, but then all of the edges are jagged making them look like frame markings. Tobiano causes the white on the legs. The reason IMO for the brown spots is a fight with frame and tobiano. Frame wants a white face and tobiano wants a colored face.
