Color experts help!!

My mare( Babe) is a Bay with a dorsel, her dam is a grey, and sire is Sorrel.
I bred her to a cremello and got this. I have people tell me Buckskin, Choc. Pali and could be a dunalino. He doesnt have a dorsel but they say one could show up. ( I thought they had to be born with them)
His legs are gonna shed out to a dark color and the tips of his ears are to. His tail is part black and a few long black hairs in his mane and if you look at his roots they are a dark color.

I'm not a color expert at all, but I can say that he is absolutely adorable. Congrats on the new colt.

No.

Palomino horses can only produce red pigment. THere is no genetic instruction for their bodies to make black, no matter how dark the hair is...it is just the darkest red you could ever imagine.

Believe it or not, THIS horse is actually a genetic palomino! No matter how dark he looks

So what if you breed to a homozygous black, what would that give you if paly's can only produce red?

You could get:

One copy of black and one copy of red = Heterozygous Black

Or

One copy of black and one copy of cream = Smoky Black
