Wow, that mare has a pretty good line going there. What's her pedigree? Is there a chance her dam was dun under the gray?

Black on the legs and tail could be caused by sooty. You can either test or wait for shedding, but I will stay with pally.

Mare looks bay with countershading to me, but I would not be overly surprised if dun. Don't think baby has it though.

If I was betting money, I would put in on Palomino with possible sooty gene. Here is a picture of another filly, also genetically-tested as palomino:

BUT... I would lay ALOT of money on that filly going gray. I believe her darkness is largely caused by the gray.

Where did the gray gene come from? The dam is bay and the sire is cremello. The bay has a gray parent but apparently is not going to be gray... so where would the gray gene come from?

If that is so... I still want to know where the gray came from... LOL What color are the parents? I have a very white looking palomino with no gray in the pedigree... so I am not sure that the horse in the photo is gray...

I would assume the dam is the gray right behind the filly.

The dam of the foal in post #34 is gray. This I know for sure from another source.

The foal was even born with a few white/gray hairs sprinkled all over.
