Color Experts- Color Possibilities Help

Okay, I'm trying to figure out our foal color possibilities for next year's foals. Take a look and see if anything needs to be changed/added/etc.

Mare Color(color results: black/red agouti cream) x Stallion Color(color results: black/red agouti cream)

Buckskin(E A N/Cr) x Perlino (Ee Aa Cr)
I know the buckskin is that (she's my mare)- I'm just assuming that the stallion is Ee Aa.
Buckskin
Smokey Black
Perlino
Smokey Cream

Buckskin(E Aa N/Cr) x Sorrel (e Aa N)
I know the buckskin is that (she's my mare)- I'm just assuming that the sorrel is Aa.
Buckskin
Smokey Black
Bay
Black

Grulla(E a N) x Dun (Ee Aa N)
I know the grulla is that (she's my mare)- I'm just assuming that the stallion is Ee Aa N
Dun
Grulla
Black
Bay

First cross - you left out palomino and cremello, since it's known/assumed that the mare/stallion, respectively, has a red gene to give (since you say the mare is black/red and the stallion is black/red).

Second cross - again you left out the red-based colors. I am assuming, in this, that the buckskin is Ee. If the buckskin is EE, then your choices are correct.

Third cross - See above - you are only giving the grulla E, but she's either EE or Ee. If EE, your choices are correct. If she's Ee, then you add palomino and red dun to the possibilities.

My first statement...
Mare color( black/red agouti cream) **etc......**

I was just stating what/how I was going to list everything

If you go back and look at each horse, after the color I have stated what their UC Davis coat color results are/or for the stallions what I am assuming they are. All the mares I listed are homozygous for the black gene (E or EE---which ever way you choose to symbolize it)

So the first cross- palomino and cremello cannot be, due to my mare being homozygous black. The foal will be black based.

Same with the second and third crosses. The mares are homozygous black- so we are garunteed a black based foal.

Ok, I got it. It was confusing with the "E", as each gene is listed as a pair - EE or Ee or ee, AA or Aa or a. Since you listed Aa in some places, I wasn't sure why just the "E" listing.

Ahh--new question. With my first cross- would smokey black and smokey cream be out? Because a smokey black is black + 1 copy of cream. And smokey cream is black + 2 copies of cream. Black is aa....my mare is AA- so there's no way she'd be able to produce a black horse. Am I right? So then her color possibilities would be buckskin and perlino.

Yes, if your mare is homozygous black and homozygous bay, then smokey black and smokey cream are right out.
