Color Experts... Baby shedding... what color?

Ok, so Boots was born sorrel, and still is sorrel, but he is finbally started to shed just a tiny bit. Around his eyes and the backs of his ears. So, what color do you think he will be judging by these ears?

If that's momma's paint belly next to him, I'd say he's going to end up similar to her. My girl was born sorrel like that, and shed out much darker (though fades to golden red in the summer). Her mane and tail ended up so dark auburn it almost looks black at the roots!

Thanks, and yep, that's momma's belly. I was hoping Chestnut, but didn't want to get my hopes up. We have 3 sorrels, 3 bays, one gray, and other colors, but no chestnut currently. At least he will be different when the herd comes running up. He is an unknown X Pony lol

Chestnut for sure. Many of then shed out the first time darker than their foal coat. You'll have to wait until at least next Spring's shed to see his real shade.

Yup, chestnut...

Palominos do the darker shedding thing too... it's hideous. We've had a few and they always look like they have mange.
