| Senior Moderator | Its probably like giving your horse gas-x. I like that.. he guarentees that it will work... well only for one year... and if it doesn't work he will give you the money on the meds back, but nothing for the loss of your horse. OF COURSE if you read the directions the vet has to administer it, which I doubt a lot of vets will, and by the time you have the vets out they can give a real treatment to the horse instead of herbal stuff. |

| Senior Member+ | Problem with colic, there isn't ONE cause. There are variety of causes, from intestinal worms to flat out gut STOPPING. Strongid is guaranteed, if used properly, to pay for any colic surgeries up to a certain amount IF the colic was caused by Intestinal worms. NOT for water deprevation or anythign like that. Got to be careful with reading between the lines and small print! Do't know about this stuff.....but again, depends on the KIND of colic it is said to "prevent". THE BEST thing for Colic is Immediate treatment and care. Though sometimes even if you are right on top of it, it is just TIME.

| Senior Member+ | Theres no question about it. Herbs are in. When perusing herbal medications, you can find products pledging to cure everything from minor cuts to cancer. Debates rage over the effectiveness of such goods, but horse owners still buy them and try them. And therein lies the danger. With the best of intentions, we tend to see that word "natural" and think the product must be completely safe. In reality, herbs can be strong medicine, with the potential to harm your horse as well as help him. Since herbs arent strictly regulated(and what laws do exist generally arent strictly enforced), a product can easily land at your local tack shop never having been tested for purity, safety, or effectiveness. There also are no restrictions on who can buy or sell these medications. With it so available it is easy to make mistakes, including the five most commom ones: Ingredient overload Overuse Interactions Individual reactions Positive drug test If you want more information go to these herbal Information resources: *Academy of Veterinary Homeopathy: 305-652-5372 *American Academy of Veterinary Acupncture: 303-772-6726 *American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association: 410-569-0795 *International Veterinary Acupuncture Society:970-266-0666

| Senior Moderator | That seems kind of odd to me. I think I'll stick with my Banamine and vet call!

| Senior Member+ | Hmm...looks fishey to me. I am skeptical. How can he say its 100% effective, you will NEVER loose a horse. Common now. Unless he's GOD, he can't promise that.
